Major CVS score!!!

I stopped in a CVS today that I very rarely go to, and they had one shopping basket filled with clearance goodies. I could not resist...Maybelline The Falsies, which hasn't even been out that long, was $1.87! And Sally Hansen HD nail polish (not all shades) was $1.62! What???!!! Even better, I had a 25% off entire purchase coupon that printed at the bottom of my receipt on Tues, plus $6 in Extra Bucks! So I got everything below for $15.28! I'm not sure if these items are on clearance at all CVS's, or if it was just that particular one, but you can bet I'll be checking others to find out!

New Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Shades!

While searching for the Chanel Paradoxal dupe, Revlon Perplex (not successful in finding it, BTW :'( ), I came across some new Sally Hansen Xtreme Wears! Nothing in this collection is terribly unique, but for under $3, why not, right?! Unfortunately I couldn't get pictures of each individual one; I found these in a local drugstore which is never busy, which means all the employees do is stand around and watch patrons suspiciously. :\ But anyway...
Left to right: Lacey Lilac, Gray Area,  Mint Sorbet, Posh Plum, and Blizzard Blue.

The first 3 are cremes, the last 2 are...I don't know...kinda frosty? But not in a bad way. They just didn't shout "BUY ME!" I'm pretty sure Blizzard Blue is dupey to a $.97 NYC polish that I own. I actually only left with Gray Area (and a flakie snowman polish...woot!), which seems similar to Nina Never Glum Plum from Sally's, but I haven't swatched them next to one another yet.

Gray Area

Mint Sorbet

Various snowman polishes

Multicolor glitter

Fuschia/magenta w/ holo glitter

Red glitter flakie

Light blue glitter flakie

What do you think of these? Will you purchase any of the new Xtreme Wears?

Early review of new L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes

Hey lovely ladies! I just have to share my early review of L'oreal's new mascara, Voluminous Million Lashes. I call it early because a lot of times, after 2 or 3 weeks, a mascara seems to change (usually it gets drier and clumps more, but in the case of Femme Couture Monster Lash, it seemed to get thinner - but I digress!) and it looks different on me. But since this is new, I want to put it on your radar, if it's not already there!

Here's my before pic (please ignore my wonky brows. They need Tweezerman's attention!):

And here's after:

For me, this is a major difference. Length isn't really an issue for me; my lashes are probably slightly longer than average, but they are sort of pale, and, like my hair, THIN! I'm loving this mascara because it doesn't clump, flake, or smudge on me. AT ALL. Million Lashes has plastic (or are they rubber?!) bristles, which until now, have always seemed to provide me with length and definition, but not much in the way of volume. I'm really hoping this doesn't thicken up after a few weeks, because if it doesn't, it'll be my new HG!

I can't decide if I like the luxe yet minimalist gold tube (makes me think of YSL Faux Cils, which is lovely, but I'll never pay almost $30 for a mascara!), but it's what's inside that counts, right? I purchased this at Walgreens for $8.99. Unfortunately it's not on sale right now, but I did have $4 in Register Rewards and asked for a coupon their beauty counter, so I got another $1 off. Hopefully it'll be like L'oreal's other mascaras and drop by a few bucks after it's been out awhile (like Telescopic did). If not, there's always 40% off sales. :-)

So ladies, I'll report back on whether I'm still loving this in a few weeks. Let me know if you've tried this yet, and if so, what you think of it!

Manic Panic cosmetic line spotted at Meijer

So I went to Meijer for the 5th time this week (don't ask, LOL) and, while I didn't find the new Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure fall lineup, I did spot a new makeup display. Meijer is now selling Manic Panic. I went into 2 Meijer stores today (hey, when I'm on the hunt for something, I'm *serious* about it! :D) and both had the display. Prices range from $4 for nail polish to $10 for a "lip book" or an "eye book." I didn't pick up anything; not much in this line appears to be my style - aka, it's pretty goth-y. The lipsticks were all dark - purple, black, etc. The face powders were very pale - there were 2 white shades (no discernable difference to me, but they did have different shade names) and one pale-skin-shade. They did have a cream and powder liner kit that may appeal to some (pic below). There are 4 nail polishes - black, black with silver glitter, black with red glitter (see the pattern here?!), and dark purple. There's a mascara as well.

I know that Manic Panic is known for hair color, but is their cosmetics line a new venture? Or is this a reinvention, à la Hard Candy/Walmart? Does anything in this line appeal to anyone?

New Wet 'n Wild Holiday palettes!

As a hardcore Wet 'n Wild devotee (my HG mascara is their Mega Volume in the yellow tube - I get fat, black lashes for under $2!), I was thrilled to see these at Meijer on Saturday. For whatever reason, I stared longingly at them and then passed. As though it was meant to be, their Sunday ad included all Wet 'n Wild for 50% off this week! So I went back and got 2 of the sets, Night Elf and Sugar Plum Fairy. Any good blogger would've gotten pics of the entire display and names of the other palettes, but, well, I never claimed to BE a good blogger, so... ;-) Anyway! Here are some pics and swatches of what I did get.

First, Sugar Plum Fairy...

Left to right on my fingertips is top to bottom (starting on left side) in the palette

Holy pigmentation on the brown, right?! This is what's left over after swiping on my hand! I may need a backup of this palette! The 2 lighter shades (top) are not that special in my opinion, but the other 4 are looovely! The 2 middle ones have a pretty golden sheen to them in certain lighting. The brown isn't just your ordinary brown; it has a coppery shimmer. This one comes with a mini eyeliner in Purple Violet.

Next is Night Elf...
(Try to ignore the reflection of my pink camera, 'k thanks! ;-))

(Sorry, I messed up on the order of swatching in the next 2 pics...remember what I said earlier about not being the greatest blogger? I wasn't lying to you!)

See the middle one here (bottom left in palette)? It's a total MAC Club dupe!!! Yeah, that's right, an entire palette including a MAC Dupe for almost 1/3 the cost (at retail!) of a single MAC eyeshadow! I might get a backup of this one too if only for that (I do like the other colors as well, but red and black shadows just don't flatter me). This one comes with a mini eyeliner in Black Noir (it's shimmery black).

I can't say how the wear is on these, because I've not tried them yet, but as long as they're on par with my Wet 'n Wild Lust palette (which, with a primer, wears all day on me without touchups), I'll be happy as a clam! If you plan to get any of these too, better pick them up first chance you get, as the labels on the back of the palettes say "Limited Edition" so I don't think these are going to become part of Wet 'n Wild's core ColorIcon palette line!

Oops...I abandoned my blog!

I was just trying to get my little blog up and running and then I became an aunt for the first time! Blogging kinda fell by the wayside. So please pardon the nothing-whatsoever-to-do-with-cosmetics post while I brag about my gorgeous nephew Levi!

Here he is minutes after he was born

Getting ready for first car ride outside of Mommy's tummy

Staring at Mommy intently, 1 month

Aww, precious! Also around 1 month, I think

And...not being shy about expressing to Auntie how he feels about being photographed! Classic, huh?!
2 1/2 months here

So, needless to say, I'm quite in love with and proud of this handsome little man! That being said, I'm going to try to get better at posting regularly and gaining readers! :-)

Awesome limited-edition Wet 'n Wild goodies!

There's a Meijer near me that I can always go to for a no-fail cheap thrill that I can't find anywhere else (whatever it is may eventually make it to other stores, but this one usually has things weeks before others!)! This week it was Limited Edition Wet 'n Wild  (does anyone else find it funny/weird that cheap brands do LE's?!) ColorIcon baked eyeshadows and bronzers. Being Wet 'n Wild, it's cheap to begin with, but it was on sale for 50% off this week so I got all of this for around $5! I can't believe how much I like all of this stuff! Normally I don't do bronzer, but this is subtle enough that it doesn't look odd on me, yet could be built up if desired. The eyeshadow has a nice amount of pigmentation, and it lasted all day with primer (which I won't mention because the company ticked me off when I was trying to order it. I wanted it so badly and it was out of stock everywhere [new collection] and now that I finally have it, it's not "all that" - but I spent almost $30 for it with S&H so you can bet I'm going to use every drop of it! But I digress...LOL) . Swatches were all done dry. Should've done wet too but I didn't think about that until I had everything put away. =)

Top, L to R: (all are WnW Color Icon Baked Eyeshadows / Bronzers, except one as noted)

Sizzle (bronzer), Swelter, Fiery

Bottom, L to R: Scorch (bronzer), Singe, Blaze

Clockwise from top left: Fiery, Swelter, Singe, Blaze <--although this does look very pink in the pot, it goes on a dark taupe - pic color is pretty accurate.

New Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara

Normally I wouldn't even bother with buying a Revlon mascara, because I've never liked a single one. But I had $8.65 in drugstore.com dollars, and this was $8.99 and it was free shipping/no minimum purchase - so it cost me $.34 out of pocket. :-)

Anyway...this is called Grow Luscious by Fabulash. On the back it says that lashes will grow stronger day after day and says that the "lash enhancing formula complements the natural growth cycle of your lashes and improves their overall appearance and condition with each use." (I'm not sure what they mean by any of that, though - it doesn't mention any sort of scientific data to back that up, nor does it specifically mention any ingredients that may aid your lashes.) It claims that 96% of women tested instantly saw longer, more lush lashes - which isn't saying much if you think about it! Any mascara is likely to produce some results; it just doesn't mean you'll be happy with them! That being said, this is probably the best Revlon mascara I've tried - not that the bar is set very high!

One thing you'll notice from the picture is that the brush is very large. My hands/fingers are not particularly tiny for a female. Some may like this, but if you apply mascara like I do, you may not appreciate it. I like to apply to the back (or would that be top?!) of my lashes as well and it's hard to do with a large brush without getting mascara on my lids. This is no exception. The formula itself is pretty thick. Not a ton of product comes out on the brush, which is an issue I had with their 3D and DoubleTwist mascaras. I could see it easily clumping up though with several coats.

All in all, this isn't a bad mascara; it's just okay. It would make a nice everyday mascara. I would never pay $9 for it though; I might consider repurchasing if I found it in a 40% or 50% off sale. There are just too many good drugstore mascaras out there right now!

P.S. - Sorry, no other makeup on today! Today is Day 3 with no makeup (except for the mascara trial today of course!) - I had surgery on Tuesday so I'm just taking it easy. :-)

Bumble & Bumble BOGO @ Target! (and some more sale goodies)

I went into Target yesterday while the hubby went in Lowe's and as usual made a beeline for the health and beauty section. Imagine my delight when I saw Bumble & Bumble Creme de Coco Shampoo & Conditioner in a BOGO 2-pack! Unfortunately, instead of being a shampoo and a conditioner, it was 2 of the same, but oh well...I'll eventually use 'em both! I've only had the pleasure of using Creme de Coco 2 other times, when I bought a tiny sample sized bottles for a trip - but I really liked them and have been tossing around the idea of buying full-sized bottles, but I balked at the price tag (I'm generally a drugstore or Sally's person for hair care). But this sealed the deal! I'm not sure if this is something that is at all Targets or what. I know mine has high-end hair products BOGO from time to time though; last year I got the same deal on some Frederic Fekkai.

I also picked up a Schick Intuition set. I needed refills anyway, and they had this kit for the same price as 3 refills, so I got one bonus refill plus a cute, springy, new (PINK!) razor! YAY! =)

I stopped at CVS as well. I had a $5 off $25 coupon, plus $10 ExtraBucks from the CVS Advisory Panel survey I completed, so I wanted to take advantage of those. Mostly I just stocked up on products for my husband, but I did get 2 things for myself. Check out this cute leopard-print headband from Goody! Even the salesgirl commented on it! And I've been looking at these Sexiest Fantasies body sprays for awhile but I couldn't decide which fragrance I wanted. Since they had a free purse spray, I went for it this time. I got Fireworks in the full size, and the purse spray is Love Struck. I have to say I like Fireworks better in the bottle than I do on me. On, it kinda brings to mind being in a store that always has incense burning - it has a pleasant scent, but you can't discern any specific notes. I definitely won't be trading in my Love's Sugar Kiss for either of these anytime soon. =)

Free (or almost free) stuff at Kroger!

So I was browsing the Kroger website a few days ago while updating my shopper card information and stumbled on a coupon for $5 off the purchase of 2 of their Mirra products. I had just been looking at their makeup brushes that day and remembered that they were on sale! So I printed off several coupons and returned to Kroger. Grand total spent for 8 brushes (and as you can see, some of them are dual-ended!): $2.42 plus tax! They are pretty soft. A few hairs have fell out, but it's not too bad. Since I'm already set with brushes, I'm thinking of tossing these in my travel bag.

If you haven't tried anything in the Mirra line, you should give it a shot. I bought a shampoo and a conditioner a few months ago and I really liked it - it smelled great too! They have a decent selection: makeup brushes, hair products, body lotion, etc. Coupon link: Mirra Coupon

(OK, click on each image to see the full pic - again, I'm new to blogging and clearly I don't quite have it mastered yet! ;-))
